Zolna, Stanley
Stanley A. Zolna, 86, Mosinee, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Aspirus Palliative Care, Wausau.
He was born March 26, 1926, in Mosinee, the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Stanaszek) Zolna. He married Tillie Stroyny, the love of his life, on June 5, 1948, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Mosinee. She died Dec. 24, 2011.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving with the 78th Division during World War II, and was a 4th Degree charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed at Mosinee Paper Corporation until his retirement. Stanley enjoyed polka dancing, traveling, spending time at their cottage near Woodruff, and was an avid Packer fan.
Survivors include a son, Stan E. (Gladys) Zolna, Chicago; three daughters, Cheryl (Neal) Adams, Schofield, Kathy (Allen) Rowland, Eau Claire, and Karen Zolna, Hartford; and four grandchildren, Allison (Jason DiPiazza) Adams, Waunakee, LeighAnn Adams, Waunakee, Stephanie (Sam Hotchkiss) Rowland, Madison, and Luke Voelz, Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Nowak, and two brothers, Edward Handzel and Joseph Handzel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, where at 4 p.m. there will be a rosary and a VFW service at 7 p.m. Visitation will be again from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Stanley's name may be directed to "Never Forgotten Honor Flight", P.O. Box 5056, Wausau, Wi 54402-5056, www.neverforgottenhonorflight.org.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Palliative Care, Renaissance Assisted Living Facility in Schofield, and Dr. Brian Smith and his staff for their kind care and comfort given to Stanley.

I miss you so much Dad. Wish you could have stayed a little longer.
I keep your felt cap in my (your) car. I glance at it as I head off to work, appointments, etc. I like to think that you are sitting in the car with me. It helps me get through the rough days.
Tell Mom I miss her too... I've put up some of her Christmas decorations. Gilda, the bear,is "resting" comfortably on my sofa.

Stanley was a pleasure to meet and have into my life for a short period of time. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Stanley will be missed. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
