Holewinski, Leo  
Leo Holewinski Leo Holewinski, 101, of Hatley passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital. He was born August 15, 1913 in Pulaski to the late Julius and Julia (Tyczkowski) Holewinski. On October 5, 1935 Leo married Victoria Glapinski at St. Florian's Catholic Church, Hatley. They dairy farmed in Hatley for many years. Leo began his career at the DC Everest school district as a school bus driver and later as a custodian for the high school until his retirement. He also worked as a custodian at St. Florian school and church. In his earlier years, Leo was an active member of St. Florian and also a member of the Holy Name Society. For many years, he was sexton of the church cemetery and dug graves by hand. His past times included hunting, carpentry and gardening. Leo was known for his gift of being a dowser (water witching). He thoroughly enjoyed helping his friends, neighbors and church locate fresh clean well water. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Holewinski of Wausau, Suzanne (Ronald) Raasch of Hatley, son, Aldred (Sandra) Holewinski of Bradenton, FL, five grandchildren, Denise (Dan) Kellner, Annette (Jeff) Schaupp, Vickie (Brad) Varsho, Phillip (Darla Plaster) Holewinski, Jonathan (Andrea Skubal) Holewinski, six great grandchildren, Dustin and Dalton Kellner, Marissa and Alexis Schaupp, Lauren and Julia Varsho and three brothers, Alvin (Florence) of Schofield, Stanley (Regina) of Manville, NJ, and Arthur (Shirley) of Milwaukee. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria and three brothers, Ray, Emil and Florian. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 St. Florian's Catholic Church, Hatley. Father Gregg Bohren will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com . Hamell Jr., John  
Hamell Jr., John A. John A. Hamell Jr., 80, Ringle died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born February 19, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late John A. and Mary (Kempka) Hamell Sr. On December 13, 1957 he married Sharon Hidde in Milwaukee. She survives. Prior to his retirement and moving to Ringle John was an attorney in Milwaukee for many years. Survivors include his wife Sharon Hamell, Ringle, his children, Kristin Mungovan, Milwaukee, Elizabeth (David) Willis, Cedarburg, John (Meg) Hamell III, Waukesha and Paul Hamell, Lake Geneva, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Besides his parents John was preceded in death by his son-in-law, William Mungovan. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Oratory, Wausau. The Rev. Aaron Huberfeld will preside. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Milwaukee. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Hornik Jr., Walter  
Walter C. Hornik, Jr. Walter C. Hornik, Jr., 70, of Wausau, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer, on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born in Wausau to Walter and Esther (Williams) Hornik, Sr. on January 1, 1945. Walter will be remembered for his love of family and music. He was the owner of Walt's Record Land in Stevens Point, worked at Northern Mattress as the credit manager, was the business manager for his martial arts studio, and most recently was a skip tracer for Value Finance in Schofield. Music was a big part of Walter's life. He started his first band at age 14 called the Monarchs and he was a member, later in life, of the Musikats and Tequila Sunrise. He was the past-president of the Musicians Union in Wausau and also played piano, keyboard, accordion, Cord-o-vox, alto and tenor saxophone, and bass guitar. He also enjoyed gardening, was a member of the Newman Alumni Club, the 1963 class reunion committee, and the restoration committee for the Rothschild Pavilion. Survivors include his children, Lisa Churkey, Walter "Bud" Hornik III, Bonnie Pederson, Natalie (Jason) Bradshaw, all of Kronenwetter, and Cody (Amanda) Hornik of Mosinee; brother, Dennis Hornik of Green Bay; sisters, Marlene Patton of Wausau and Rose (Greg) Tryba of Wittenberg; grandchildren, Tara (Mike) Ott, Corey Ott, Christopher, Bobbie, Joshua, Angela, Gary Jr., and Aaron (Trista) Churkey, Destiny, Kegan, and Ava Hornik, Preston, Khiana, and Landon Bradshaw, and Avery and Ember Hornik; great-grandchildren, Addison, Ariana, and Cayden Ott, Owen Ott, and Gabe and Ari Churkey; nieces and nephews, Nicole, Melissa, Tyler, Taylor, Travis, and Jessica; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, Sr. and Esther; brother, Randy; and sister, Lorraine. A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, with Rev. Matthew Marshall of St. Anne Parish officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at the funeral home and again beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday until the time of service. You may sign the family guestbook at www.helke.com . It was part of Walter's final wishes that people wear their casual clothes to help celebrate his life.
