Heckman, Janet (Moss Ralph) Janet (Moss Ralph) Heckman, age 87, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Lake View Heights, in Wausau, WI. She was born July 11, 1928 to Ronald and Inez Moss in Antigo, WI. Janet enjoyed time spent at Post Lake, Elcho, WI. She also enjoyed ceramics and playing cards with family. She is survived by her husband, William J. Heckman, Mosinee; her children: Linda (Mike) Kennedy, Mosinee, John (Karen) Ralph, Antigo, Terry (Susan) Ralph, Mosinee; sister Lois (George-deceased) Goeman, Deerbrook; and brother Larry (Lu) Moss, Pelican Lake; Grandchildren Michelle (Jody) Giese, Brad Kennedy, Brian (Lisa) Kennedy, and Blaine Kennedy, Jason (Carrie) Ralph, Jeremy (Natalie) Ralph, Keith (Sarah) Ralph, Katia (Jake) Van Daalwyk and Kyle Ralph; Great-grandchildren Jerik (Renee) Giese, Jianca Giese (Kyle McHugh- fiancé) and Jevret Giese (Sammie Stroik- fiancée), Britney Harper, Annabella and Kiarra Kennedy, Hudson, Fielder, Kainen Ralph; Great-Great-grandchild Lanndon Giese. Per request of family, in place of a funeral service, there will be a private family gathering at a later date. Janet was preceded in her death by her mother Inez Moss, her father Ronald Moss, brother Richard Moss, and sister Carol (Moss) Donohue.

Hanke, Virginia Virginia "Ginny" Hanke, 77, Wausau, passed away on May 21, 2016 under Aspirus Hospice Care. She was born on August 3, 1938 to Fred and Lovine (Schuh) Knapp. She is survived by her husband of 54 years John Hanke, the love of her life whom she married on April 28, 1962; one daughter Brenda (Steve) Petcher, Wausau; four sons Bryon (Gail) Buhse, Wausau, Bill Buhse, Wausau, Bradley (Greta) Buhse, Wausau, Burton (Sharon) Hanke, Wausau, two brothers Dennis (Jeanette) Knapp, Wausau, David (Patti) Knapp, Wausau; two sisters Vietta Kolbe, Kay Guise, Hortonville; seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother Roy Knapp. Virginia was a graduate from Wausau High School in 1959. She was an active bowler and was known as "Sarge" until an automobile accident. She enjoyed being with her family and going to the casino, she was also a very good cook and enjoyed having company over. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting the family at this time. Hardell, Dawn M. Dawn M. Hardell, 63, Wausau, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born February 16, 1953 in Wausau, daughter of the late Leonard and Marian (Nienow) Czaplinski. On May 28, 1989, she married LaVern "Vern" Hardell in Wausau. He survives. Dawn was presently employed as an accountant and bookkeeper at Krause Howard and Company in Wausau, and has worked there since she was 18 years old. She loved her dogs and also enjoyed flower gardening. Survivors include, her husband, Vern Hardell, Wausau; one son, Christopher (Tara) O'Neil, Milwaukee; three brothers, Robert (Julie) Czaplinski, Tomahawk, Scott (Jill) Czaplinski, Wausau and Tim (Charyl Hoover) Czaplinski, Tomahawk; one brother-in-law, Ronald Hardell, Wausau; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Hardell and Phyllis Peterson, both of Wausau; three nephews, Scottie, Nicholas and Samuel Czaplinski; and one niece, Lisa Peterson. Memorial services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Hoffman, Bernard  
Hoffman, Bernard Bernard J. (Bernie) Hoffman, age 93, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 under the care of Garden Side Crossing at the North Central Health Care Center, Wausau. Bernie was born on February 25, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Joseph and Irene Hoffman. He lived in Chicago until his teenage years when his family moved to the Schofield, Wisconsin area. He attended Wausau High School and while there, met the love of his life, Ruby Braatz. They were married on April 1st, 1944 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schofield. Bernie served in World War II in both the United States Army and as a pilot in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. He and Ruby then settled in Schofield, where they raised their family. Bernie spent most of his working life as a Rural Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, based out of the Schofield Post Office. He retired from there in 1981. He was a past member of both the Schofield Volunteer Fire Department and the City of Schofield Water Commission. He was also a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schofield. He was active in various sports leagues. He managed Little League teams and played softball for many different fast pitch and slow pitch teams. Bernie also became a tennis fanatic and played that sport until he was 80. He was a member of the Wausau Area Radio Controlled Model Airplane Club and spent a considerable amount of time in the summers flying his home made planes at the club's landing strip at Sunnyvale Park. Bernie was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He helped his entire family over the years with various projects - both big and small. He enjoyed family get togethers. He and Ruby could also be seen many times "stepping out" to a local dance, or enjoying a fish fry with family and friends. He enjoyed music, especially big band music and polkas. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, his parents, and many other in-laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his three children, Russell (Marie) Hoffman, Rothschild; Pam (Greg) Smith, Mosinee; and Polly (Mike) Behrens, Weston. His grandchildren include Melanie (Travis) Carroll, Fall River, WI; Crystal Smith, Rothschild; Amanda (Tyler) Killinger, Green Bay; Paul Smith, Madison; Stacey (Jeremy) Larsen, Weston; and Elizabeth Ball, Weston. He is also Great Grandpa to Carson Killinger and Jack Larsen. There will be a private funeral service for the family. Gifts or memorials may be directed to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schofield, Wisconsin. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is helping with the arrangements. Our family would like to thank the entire staff of Garden Side Crossing at North Central Health Care Center not only for your wonderful care, understanding, and patience shown to our dad, but also the courteous way in which you always treated our family. Thanks also to Pastor Davidson for your visits and comforting messages that you shared with Dad.

Huey, Donald J.  
Huey, Donald J. Donald J. Huey, 89, Wausau, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at North Central Health Care, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born May 8, 1927 in Wausau, son of the late Eugene and Emma (Fitch) Huey. On November 14, 1959, he married Beulah Collins in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1998. Don was a veteran of the United States Navy. For many years, he worked for the former Connors Forest Industries in Wausau. He loved to go fishing and was very proud of becoming a vegetarian which he faithfully adhered to for over 40 years. Survivors include, four children, Joe (Heather) Huey, Montgomery, Ill., David (Fran Volhard) Huey, Mosinee, Mary (David Waite) Huey, Rothschild and Paul (Katrina) Huey, Wausau; four grandchildren, Tony Seehafer and Taurus, Benjamin and Noah Huey; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Beulah, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Robert Huey, Catherine Mohr-Yessa, Marshall Huey and Betty Landreville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
