Taylor, Alphonsus

Alphonsus "Al" Jerome Taylor, 90, of Marshfield, died Saturday December 8, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

"Phoney" was born October 31, 1922 in the Township of Green Valley, WI, son of the late Asa and Louisa (Daul) Taylor.

He served in the United States Army from 1945-47 as a mechanic and ambulance driver. Al was employed at Mosinee Paper Mill, Marshfield Homes and Schuld Manufacturing until a disabling back surgery.

He lived life to its fullest with humor and great love for his family and friends. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend that will be forever missed.

Al and his wife loved gardening and canning the fruits of their labor. He found artistic talent later in life and carved a village with a jackknife. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia; son, David (Nancy) Taylor, Seward, Alaska; daughter, Joy (Michael) Taylor, Seattle, WA; son, Sean Taylor, Matlock, WA; daughter, Sarah (Dale) Merchant, Junction City, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday December 14, 2012 at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. Friday until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

There's an empty bunk in the bunkhouse tonight.
