Arbutus Lucille Eggen
Arbutus L. Eggen, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2012, at Geri Care Cabin in Neenah. Her daughter moved her from Schofield to Neenah six years ago to better care for her health needs after the passing of her husband, Clayton Eggen in 2006.
She was born on February 23, 1922, in Rock County, daughter of Arthur and Hazel (Mastuen) Hanson. She graduated from Orfordville High School with her twin sister, Arvilla and brother LaVerne in 1942. Arbutus was united in marriage to Clayton Eggen on November 5, 1947, in Orfordville, and shared 56 years together. They owned the Eggen Camper Sales in Schofield, and were in the mobile home/recreational trailer business over 50 years after moving from Beloit to the Wausau area in 1952.
Arbutus was a busy lady in her life. Her responsibilities not only included being a good homemaker, but also working side by side with Clayton in their business. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Montgomery-Plant Post #10 for 44 years, the VFW
Women's Auxiliary, and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau. Clayton and Arbutus enjoyed dancing, especially with her sisters and brother on weekends in the Beloit area, and traveled to many countries sponsored by their trailer sales awards.
Arbutus is survived by her son, Philip Eggen, Rothschild; daughter, Sandra (Franz) Stadtmueller, Neenah; grandchildren: Franz Karl Stadtmueller, Waukesha, and Jana Stadtmueller, Green Bay; sister-in-law: Lil (James) Eggen, Peoria, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters: Florence Thompson, Charlotte Eichar, Mercedes Hanson, Arvilla Whitman (twin sister); brother, LaVerne Hanson; and in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Luther Valley Lutheran Church, 7107 S. Luther Valley Road, Beloit, with Rev. Mary Froiland officiating. Interment will be in Luther Valley Cemetery, Beloit, where several generations of family relatives rest. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.
