Barthels, Daniel "Bart"
Daniel A. "Bart" Barthels, 60, Aniwa, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, rode into his heavenly home on Thursday, June 13, 2013, due to a motorcycle accident.
He was born Sept. 23, 1952, in Wausau, the son of Lorraine (Maly) Barthels and the late Albert Barthels. He met Jeanette (Kuklinski) in 1989 and they married on Sept. 10, 1994. He graduated from Wausau East High School in 1970. He was employed at Greenheck Fan and was recently recognized for 25 years of service.
Dan started riding Harley's in his teens and rode bike the majority of his adult life. He loved hunting and fishing and especially the elk hunting trips to Colorado and bird hunting in the Dakotas. He had perfected the old fashion recipe through trial and error, and loved trying different micro brews at local and regional breweries. Dan made some mean chili and often used family and friends as test subjects with the newest recipe. The Blues were his favorite genre of music. Over the past five years he learned how to graft and he grafted many varieties of apple trees on his 56 acres of rural property. "Bart" was a no frills kind of man with a favorite outfit of flannel shirts and jeans. What you saw is what you got with compassion and kindness that went deep. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors besides his wife, Jeanette, include his son, Michael (Jackie) Murray, Mosinee; his daughter, Michelle Murray, Madison; his grandchildren, Brodie, Cole & Payton Murray; his mother, Lorraine Barthels, Wausau; a brother, Randall (Tammy) Barthels, Wausau; his sisters, Kathy (Ken) Heil, Sauk City, and Barbara Marthaler, Gleason; three brothers-in-law, Gary (Susan) Kuklinski, Mosinee, Tom (Gail) Kuklinski, Superior, and Jeff (Gayle) Kuklinski, Mosinee; two sisters-in-law, Judy Nicholas, Wausau, and Margy (Alan) Macky, Colorado; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, dear friends, his chosen brothers in the SPHDMC; and his special Gordon Setter, Annabelle. The family sends a huge "thank you" to the staff at Aspirus ICU. The compassion you showed Bart and his family and friends at this very difficult time was so greatly appreciated. God Bless you!
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bart's name will be accepted and donated to a nature foundation to be determined at a later date.
Dan's last gift to this world was organ donation.
