Frank Hallas Jr, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at his home. He was late for supper on the day he arrived on a cold January 29, 1935 to his proud parents, the late Frank Sr and Mary (Babiarz) Hallas and nine siblings.
He was married on August 1, 1959 at United Methodist Church in Mosinee to Carol Raymond, she survives. They had two children; Leslie Violet and Robert Frank; three Grandchildren; Zachary Robert Hallas, Lacey Mae and William Brody La Porte. Other family members include a son in-law, Randy La Porte, a very special friend of Bob's, Heather Nowak, and special mention to two "adopted" grandchildren, TJ and Trisha Gorski.
More Survivors include: two sisters; Stella (Henry) Dobrowolski and Stephanie (Chester) Pawlak; one brother, John (Francis) Hallas, and many nieces and nephews.
Frank enjoyed being outdoors while gardening and doing yard work. We all looked forward to summer so we could eat the wonderful vegetables he grew with a magic touch. In the past he enjoyed hunting and fishing with Bob helping with the catching and Leslie with the filleting. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren outdoors, playing tag, chasing and growling at them, practicing pitching and giving the baseball advice. He was in the US Army from 1954-1957 and belonged to the VFW
Peplin Post 8280. Frank was employed at the Wausau Paper Mill from 1961-1998
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Ed, Bill (Irene), Ted Sr. (Josey), and Walter Hallas; two sisters, Francis (Albert) Janik and Wanda (Gene Sr.) Osowski.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Rev. Park Hunter will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m., Monday, until time of Services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Valley Communities Credit Union, Mosinee, to sponsor the Mosinee Youth girls' softball.
