Corda, Gerald A.
Gerald A. Corda, 78, Honolulu, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, from complications after surgery.
Jerry was born March 3, 1934, in the town of Cassel to the late Edward and Clara (Wilichowski) Corda.
Survivors include two sisters, Marie (John) Curtis, Sonoma, Calif.; and Marion (Jacob) Altenhofen, Marathon; and one brother, Al, Elk Mound. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bob and Jim.
Jerry attended the former Wausau Senior High School. He was gifted in music and performed with the Top Hatters Band. He was a leader of his own band, and enjoyed playing polkas, waltzes and a variety of music for folks in the area.
He served in the U.S. Navy
from 1952 to 1956 stationed in Hawaii. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he earned his business degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was a business teacher in Winona, Minn., for many years. Later on, Jerry returned to Hawaii where he taught for many more years. He began singing and playing the ukulele to the delight of his family and friends.
Military services and burial were held in the National Veteran's Cemetery in Hawaii.
