Katy Bliese, age 87, joined her Lord and Savior on April 2, 2014. She was born Kathleen June Berres on June 24th, 1926 to John C. and Hazel V. (LaDusire) Berres in Schofield, WI. She attended Wausau High School, serving as Student Council Secretary as well as a member of Student Club, Junior Gregg, and G.A.A. After graduating in 1944, she worked for a time for Employers Mutual in the Library. On June 21st, 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Fredrick W. (Fritz) Bliese at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schofield. Initially, they lived with his parents in Wausau, before moving to Badger Village, WI. Fritz completed his B.S. in Accounting, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1951. They returned to Wausau, where they made a home and raised seven children. Fritz preceded her in death in April 1996.

In 1997, Katy met fellow Zion Lutheran Church member Myron W. Storm. They enjoyed spending time together, going on outings, and attending family gatherings. Myron was a joy to her at this time in her life. He preceded her in death in July 2005.

Katy was a fabulous mother, homemaker, neighbor, and friend. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, cooking, baking, canning, and sewing for her family. Katy served as Den Mother for each of her children involved in Scouting. She enjoyed outings with her Card Club and Birthdays Club friends. She especially loved spending time up at the Cottage o Manson Lake.

Katy was a devout member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau, WI. She was a long time member of the Church Choir and the Concordia Guild. Katy was a joy to be around and had a great sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Katy is survived by her seven children: Fredrick W.J. Bliese, Wausau; Jamie (Dave) Werner, Ladysmith, WI; Kristin (George) Kleist, Tomahawk; Mark (Shelly) Bliese, St. Louis, MO; Andrew (Faye) Bliese, Woodbury, MN; John Bliese, Wausau; Carrie (Jeff) Jurgella, Middleton, WI. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and by her siblings Charlotte (Edwin) Nelson, Stoughton; Darrel (LaVerne) Berres, Dallas, TX, and Doug (Bev) Berres, Schofield.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Zion Lutheran church, 709 6th St., Wausau. The Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau and again from 9:00 am until the time of services at the church on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, Katy would like all memorials to go to Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau

Katy's family is very grateful to the CNAs, Nurses, and Staff at Legacies by the Lake, Mount View Care Center, Wausau, WI. Especially those at Garden Side Crossing and Evergreen Place. Their attentiveness, empathy, and caring was immeasurable.
