My sincere condolences to the Christian family. Lee was absolutely the most pure, kind & gentle person. He walked me home from school & we'd shoot baskets in our driveway! He was a very loyal, honest friend. So very sorry for your loss.

Lee, you made a small girl's dreams come true, one dark winter evening. Our granddaughter visiting, said, "Grandma the kids at school said there is no Santa Claus, and I told them there was, Grandma said he lives in your heart." That evening the fire truck came up the street and stopped in front of our house. John grabbed Hannah up in his arms and took her to the window of the truck where "Santa" sat. Santa talked to Hannie, and when she came back in, she said,"Grandma, I knew it was true"... Her eyes were just huge and she had the biggest smile on her face. Thanks Lee for giving our granddaughter the magic back in her heart. Love you forever Santa Claus.

Mel you will be truly missed on Bertha St. I still look down the street to see if you're sitting on the porch, so I can yell a "Hey Mel" and you reply "How is the rich end of the block living", then we laugh. You have touched so many people with your gentleness, and giving heart, may we all take that with us in your passing.

Condolences to the Christianson family. My daughter and I will miss talking to him on his porch as we walked or rode by on our bikes. He was such a kind and patient man, with a wave, smile, and time to listen to anyone. Our street will miss him for a long time to come.

To the entire Christianson family...
It is with a real sense of sadness that I learned of Mel's passing...he was ALWAYS such a good person to me while I was growing up, extremely kind, decent, generous and just fun to be around, in many ways he was truly like an older "brother" to me. In so many ways, as some of you know, growing up over on Bertha Street in the 1970's could be described as a mixed feeling of emotions but one thing was always constant and that was just that Mel (just like your Mom & Dad)was just a good person! Every now and then, I would drive by the old neighborhood and stop to chat with him, he still had his sense of humor and "outlook" of the world that made him both humorous and smart.
Please know that your entire extended family are in my thoughts and prayers, the world really is a lesser place today with him gone.
Sincerely,
Robert Mielke

Somehow the snow falling right now seems so appropriate. I can picture "Santa" patiently waiting in his alternate transportation of Jack's antique fire engine at our driveway. Inside, my extended family all scrambled for their coats to run out to see him with the adults just as excited if not more than the kids. When I think of Mel what strikes me most is what a gentle soul he was and how he epitomized that remembering what someone said isn't nearly as important as how they made you feel.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Michelle (Turner) Dins
