Marjorie "Marge" Peterson, age 93, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 16, 2014.
Marge was born in Wausau on May 9, 1921 to the late John and Isabelle Remmel. She was the youngest of seven children.
After graduating from Wausau High School, Marge worked for Employers Mutual. In 1942 she left Wausau for Mineral Wells, Texas to marry Norman "Pete" Peterson who was serving in the U.S. Army at Camp Wolters, Texas. They were married on February 15, 1942, in Palo Pinto, Texas. They had 5 dollars to their name.
After the war they lived in Wausau on Golf Club Rd. There, they raised their four sons. After the boys were old enough, Marge returned to Wausau Insurance, retiring in 1985.
Marge was married to Pete for 59 years. Pete passed away on October 17, 2001.
Along with her many nieces, nephews, and her sister, Evelyn Tranetzke, Marge is survived by her four sons, Kenneth (Kathy Eickhoff), Gary (Cher), Timothy (Karen) and Eric (Cheryl). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 903 3rd St., Wausau. Chaplain Don Dinsmore will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, is assisting the family with arrangement.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent directly to the family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who offered their kindness and compassion to Marge on her journey and hope that it is a reflection of the kindness she showed to everyone throughout her long life.
