Mary P. Klos, age 88, of Wausau died Friday, December 7, 2012 at Harmony Terrace Court.
Mary was born on July 5, 1924 to Millard and Alice (Gritzmacher) Kiesner in Wausau. She was the first baby girl born at Wausau Memorial Hospital. She married Sylvester Klos on September 12, 1942 at St. Mary's Rectory in Wausau. When they were first married, Mary and Sylvester ran a bakery together. They spent 50 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Mary referred to her family as "Her People," and they were very important to her. She stayed at home to raise her two children, cared for her own mother when she was sick, and later loved spending time with her four grandchildren. She also loved her dog Annie who was like a part of her family. Mary was an avid reader and would write down many quotes from her books to remember and reflect upon.
Survivors include her children Greg (Karen) Klos of Wausau and Tammy (Gary) Strohfeldt of Cottage Grove; grandchildren Miranda Klos, and Annalyce, Danny, and Tommy Strohfeldt; sister Sharon Hussong of Montrose, CO; brothers-in-law Ronald Goetzke of Wausau and Arnie (Rita) Klos of Kronenwetter; a very good friend Betty Ann Plog; and her dog Annie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sylvester, and her sister Nancy Goetzke.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Church of the Resurrection, 621 2nd St., Wausau. The Rev. Bill Grevatch will officiate. Visitation will take place from 3:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau and again from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church on Monday. Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
