Mathie, Barbara "Barb" Jane

Barbara "Barb" Jane Mathie, 57, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at Hospice House, Wausau.

She was born May 21, 1955 in Wausau to the late Eugene and Marion (Gorectke) Mathie.

Barb worked for 6 years at Associated Bank, and then opened her own gift shop, the Village Emporium. She later worked for Piper Jaffrey, and then for 20 years at a local Brokerage firm. She went on to get her Life and Health Insurance license, and then Property and Casualty license. For the last 7 years Barb worked for Jim Nick at his Insurance office.

She enjoyed camping at Lake Nokomis, fishing, and planting flowers. Barb loved her cat "Max" and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her siblings, John (Kathy) Mathie, Rib Mountian, Anne (Terry) Sturm, Wausau and Thomas Mathie, Wausau; 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kathleen Stieber, and longtime boyfriend Scott Baeseman.

Memorial Mass will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark St., Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will officiate. Inurnment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.

Brainard Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice House, 530 N. 32nd Ave. Wausau, WI 54403.
