Richard K. Stepan, age 73, of Wausau died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Mt. View Care Center.

Richard was born on February 5, 1940 in Mosinee to the late Dorothy Bush. He married Rose Kopchinski on July 16, 1961 in Winterhaven, California. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2002. They were married 41 wonderful years.

Richard served his country honorably as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Lebanon Crisis. He served from 1958 to 1962 and during his time in the service enjoyed boxing as a Golden Glove Boxer. He carried this love of boxing with him after the service and boxed in Mosinee as well. Richard owned and operated R&R Transportation where he drove semi up until his retirement in 2002. He was known as "Devil Dog." Richard was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.

Richard is survived by his children Todd (Stacey) Stepan of Kronenwetter, Gregg Stepan of Wausau, Tamara "Tammie" (Russell) Obermeier of Weston, and Michelle "Mick" (Brian) Trittin of Hatley; grandchildren Eric, Zach, Jessica, Krystal, Justin, Danielle, and Nicholas; brother Joseph (Alice) Stepan of Arizona; brother-in -law Floyd Kopchinski of Mosinee; sister-in-law Sharon Stepan of Mosinee; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved best friend, his dog Star; good friends Kevin "Santa Clause" and Pete "Cooter."

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Rose, son Scott, mother Dorothy, brother Robert, and sisters Margie and Helen.

Private family services will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff and Mt. View for their exceptional care and friendship.
