Sally Halvensleben

Halvensleben, Sally

Sally "Sal" Halvensleben, 62, Kronenwetter, died unexpectedly in Glenview, Illinois on Friday, November 30, 2012. Sal was born September 9, 1950 to the late Russell and Betty Jane (Schroeder) Klemp in Portage. She married Gary Halvensleben on October 10, 1970 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

Sal could always be counted on, would befriend anyone, and would be there passionately and whole-heartedly. She had a dramatic flair for appreciating the small details in life. She looked at life through the eyes of a child- everything so huge and fascinating, and could easily connect with them, especially her grandchildren who meant the world to her. She had an infectious, loud laugh and gave the greatest hugs. She had a special gift for caring for the elderly. She was a spitfire who had a very fun and goofy side. She loved to reminisce of the old days. Sal loved spending time up north, boating and watching the stars from the lake. She had a strong faith in God. Travelling with friends, camping, snuggling with her dogs, and growing flowers in her backyard were more of her favorite things. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Gary of Kronenwetter; daughters Nicole (William) Crittenden, Sun Prairie and Amy (Dave) Wells, Rockford, Minnesota; two sisters, Darlene Davis, Reedsburg and Judith Jacobs, Escondido, California; three grandchildren, Payton and Benjamin Crittenden and Indy Wells; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great- nieces and nephews ,extended family, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Tom Klemp, niece Marcy Grosskreutz, and great-nephew, Erik Fichtel.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1351 South Grand Avenue, Schofield. Rev. Jeff Mahnke and Rev. Walter Davidson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the church and again from 9:30 to time of service all at the church.
