Wilma A Karau, 100, formally of Rothschild, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
Wilma was born September 21, 1912 in Merrill, the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Paque) Schulz. She was baptized on October 20, 1912 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Town of Scott. She was confirmed on June 5, 1927 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Town of Scott. On August 7, 1937 she married Bernhard Karau in Milwaukee.
He preceded her in death on January 6, 1980. She is survived by two sons Donald (Karen) of Eland and Duane of Ogema, six grandchildren Mark (Jacqui) of LaCrosse, Lisa of Baraboo, Lori of Cook, Minnesota, Lynn (Rian) Dawson of Portland, Oregon, Jason (Jackie) of Wausau, and Jarrod of Houghton, Michigan; six great-grandchildren Alexander, Katherine, Mishell, Charli Dawson, Henri Dawson, and Alyssa; two sisters-in-law Agnes Schulz and Doris Schulz.
She was preceded in death by one sister Adeline Hass and three brothers Pastor Wilbert Schulz, Marvin Schulz, and Edwin Schulz.
She belonged to the Lady's Aid, Fellowship Club, and Senior Citizen's Card Club.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Mount View for the care they gave to our mother for the last six years.
The family would also like to thank her special group of friends, who came every Wednesday to play cards with her.
One of her great joys was when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit her with their dogs.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Grand Ave. Schofield. Pastor Davidson will officiate. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is serving the family.
