Hastreiter, Alan "Hockey"

Alan "Hockey" Hastreiter, age 56, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January, 22nd, 2013 at his home in Wausau, Wis.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, canoeing and downhill skiing. Alan thoroughly enjoyed coaching his children's baseball and soccer teams. He was also involved in Boy Scouts both as a boy and adult, where he was a scout leader in his sons' troop and was chosen for the Order of the Arrow.

Alan was born on March 9th, 1956 in Syracuse, N.Y. to Al C. Hastreiter and Patricia (Zielke) Hastreiter. He graduated from Wausau East High School in 1974 and The National Hardwood Lumber Association School in Memphis, Ten. in 1976. Alan held a variety of positions throughout his life. He was a broker of hardwood lumber as President and Owner of Hastreiter Hardwoods Inc. in which he bought and sold many varieties of lumber from around the world. Alan also was Executive Director of Timber Producers Association in Rhinelander, Wis. where he lobbied state legislators on a variety of issues. He was on the Board of Directors for The Lake States Lumber Association and served as President for two years.

Al is survived by his children; Matt Hastreiter (Carissa Howe), Elizabeth Hastreiter (Josh Jennejohn), and Andrew Hastreiter; His grandson, Brent Jennejohn, his former wife of 25 years, Jessica Fehlandt, his mother Patricia Hastreiter, all of Wausau; his sisters Lynn (Matt) Vande Sande of Middleton, Wis. and Lee (Mike) Shipway of Wausau and their children; Megan Vande Sande and David Vande Sande of Middleton, Wis. Patrick Shipway of Eden Prairie, Min. and Samantha Shipway of Eau Claire, Wis. And the two dogs he loved so much Blue and Jazz.

Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau, WI. Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to the family would be greatly appreciated.
