Alwin "Al" Deininger, 85, Dellwood, MN, died Monday, December 31, 2012, surrounded by family.
As a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third and Fourth Degree, Al was a man of faith, which guided him throughout life. Special to him was the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love of woodworking and the love put into that task is what his family will remember about him. His legacy will live on in the woodworking projects he took on from building items for daily use as well as remodeling and restoration projects for his family.
He will also be remembered fondly for his involvement in Boy Scouts and time spent at the cottage on Somo Lake. He was a champion at captaining a boat and prided himself on helping both first-time and experienced water skiers. He also enjoyed dancing, gardening and yard work, travelling, and working with the families dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Dona Mae Deininger, Dellwood, MN, four children, Kathy (Gary) Lukens, Sun Prairie, WI., Jeanne (Bill) Hartman, White Bear Lake, MN, Bryan Deininger, Wausau, WI, Steve (Marsha) Deininger, Blaine, MN, eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 siblings as well as extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dr. James Deininger and one brother & one brother-in-law.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon Tuesday January 8, 2013 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 4741 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
