Baars, Cornelia "Nene"
Cornelia "Nene" Baars, 85, Mosinee, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Hospice House, Wausau.
She was born April 27, 1927, in Weston, the daughter of the late Carl and Martha (Taege) Hintz. On July 14, 1945, she married Clarence "Sonny" Baars. He died Feb. 12, 2013. They raised six children on the family farm in Mosinee.
Nene always told tales of how she delivered milk as a teenager for their family business, Weston Dairy. After getting married she continued farming and milking cows, by hand, for over 30 years. Her family and friends loved to listen to her sing and yodel while milking. Nene loved to garden, bake and yarn coat hangers. She spent hours watching birds at numerous bird feeders throughout the yard. Nene was a dedicated church goer and enjoyed baking and providing for church related activities. Her homemade bread and biscuits were cherished by all. As an avid Brewers fan, she watched TV broadcasts, while listening to Bob Uecker, her favorite announcer. She seldom missed a game. She was a wonderful and loving caretaker for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Terry) Nikolai and Roxanne (Alan) Wisz, both of Mosinee; four sons, Jerome (Jean) Baars, Russell (Vicki) Baars and Ronnie Baars, Mosinee, and Randy (Sherry) Baars, Rib Mountain; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Annabelle Kowalski; and two sisters-in-law, Arlene Meuret and Susie Sturm. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clarence, five sisters, Agnes Buska, Wilma Hinner, Avila Richmond, Beatrice Feith and Vernette Means, and three brothers, Eldor, Arleigh and Jerry Hintz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. MONDAY, April 1, 2013, at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. The Rev. Larry Treece will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. SATURDAY, March 30, 2013, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation will be again from 9:30 a.m. MONDAY until time of services at the church.
Nene will be remembered as a wonderful and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. We were very blessed to have had the greatest Mother and Grandmother anyone could ask for. We love you and will miss you very much. We cherish the time we spent with you.
