Beverly A. Johnson, 86, of Hazelhurst, passed away peacefully Tuesday March 27, 2012, at Our Home K-Care in Lake Tomahawk with family members at her side.

Beverly was born in Hartford, Feb. 10, 1926, to Proxaida and Jalmar Anshus. She was a 1943 graduate of Rhinelander High School. The family moved to Wausau in 1945, where she met and fell in love with Robert K. Johnson. They were married on June 3, 1950, had three children and enjoyed 51 wonderful years together before Roberts passing in Oct. 2001.
Beverly's work years ended with her retirement in 1990, from her position in the Student Affairs office of the U.W.M.C. when the couple moved to their home on Lake Katherine in Oneida County.
Beverly loved animals and wildlife and kept many feeders filled for the dozens of hummingbirds who returned to their place each summer. She and Bob loved to dance and were active members in local square dance clubs where they made even more great friends. S
he will always be remembered and missed by daughter, Carol (Roger) Scheffler of Wausau; sons Robert D. Johnson, of Bismarck, N.D., Gary (Tammy) Johnson, New Mexico; sister Phyllis Poppe, Wausau; her six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and all her nieces and nephews.
She joins in heaven her true love, husband, best friend and dance partner, Robert; parents; brother, Hjalmer; sister-in-laws, Jane Anshus, Gigi Peterson and Barbara Johnson; brothers-in-law, Dale Poppe and Pete Peterson; daughters-in-law, Bonnie Johnson, Renee Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Minocqua on April 21, 2012, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Beverly's name to your local Humane Society.
