Clarence "Sonny" Baars, 90, passed away Tuesday February 12, 2013 at Saint Clare's Hospital, Weston.
Sonny was born September 20, 1922 to the late Cassius and Alma Baars. On July 14, 1945 he married Cornelia "Nene" Hintz. They raised six children on the family farm in Mosinee. Throughout his life, Sonny worked as a farmer and employee, for many years, at the Mosinee Paper Mill, retiring in 1985.
Sonny enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening and shooting pool. He also spent countless hours woodworking, creating many original pieces for family and friends. He was the families "Mr. Fix it". He spent his days watching the Brewers and Packers with a cold PBR in hand.
Sonny is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Nene, Mosinee; four sons, Jerome (Jean), Russell (Vicki), Ronnie, all of Mosinee and Randy (Sherry), Rib Mountain; two daughters, Joanne (Terry) Nikolai and Roxanne (Alan) Wisz, both of Mosinee; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a brother, Lester Baars, Wausau and two sisters-in-law, Addie Baars, Topeka, KS and Jackie Baars, Rib Mountain.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Zastrow and three brothers, Harvey, Cassius Jr. and Donald.
Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday February 16, 2013 at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. Rev. Larry Treece will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. Friday February 15, 2013 at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the doctors, nurses and staff at Saint Clare's Hospital for the excellent care they gave Sonny.
Sonny will be remembered as a wonderful and caring Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and will be greatly missed.
