Evjue, Douglas B.
Douglas B. Evjue, 87 of Wausau died peacefully on Sunday, April 21st, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Wausau Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 15th, 1925 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Nettie McKee Evjue. He attended Wausau Schools upon moving here with his family, after which he attended and graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a degree in Political Science.
During these years he was known for his accomplishments as a musician, playing in the UW band among others.
He received V-12 training in college after which he joined the U.S. Navy during World War 2.
Survivors include Thomas Evjue, Lynn (Fred) Cupelli, Catherine (Lynn) Taschler and Arleen (Ringle) Evjue. Also surviving Douglas are his grandchildren Andy, Katie and Laurie Taschler, Robbie and John Evjue, Beth (Josh) Peterson, Joey, Anne, R.J. (Sheena)Cupelli and Xandy (Scott) Lehmann, along with four great grandchildren, Riley, Gavin, Freddie and Adele.
He is also survived by daughter Karla Dombroski and grandson Bryce, Zoa (Don) Osmitz, Scott Abel, and his special friend, Georgette Zubrick.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Marian Boggs, his son Robert J. Evjue and his wife, Jean (Abel) Evjue.
Private funeral services will be conducted.
