Edward L. Albert was called to his final journey to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday January 2, 2013 with his family at his side.
He was born March 23, 1915, the fourth son of eight children, in Rudolph, Portage County, son of the late Charles and Caroline (Mayer) Albert. Edward was baptized and confirmed in his Christian faith. On June 7, 1941 he married Anna Foltin. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2007 following 65 years of marriage.
A quiet contented man, he was a lifelong farmer in the town of Mosinee and after his retirement enjoyed helping neighbors farm. He was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran church where he served for many years on the church council and as Sunday school superintendent. Edward served on the Rocky Ridge school district during the time it consolidated from a rural one room school to the centralized city school.
Survivors include his son; Richard (Barb Billings) Albert, Stoughton, daughter; Janice (Bob) Gresens, rural Marathon, with whom he resided for the past four years, five grandchildren; Jason (Amy) Albert, Greg (fiancé - Jennifer Johnson) Gresens, Weston, Kurt Gresens, Green Bay, Eric (Jenna) Gresens, Edgerton and Michael (Catherine) Gresens, Sun Prairie, a granddaughter; Kimberly Albert, Sun Prairie, one step granddaughter; Christine (Jeff) Liepins, Williams Bay, 13 great grandchildren; Zane, Sydney, Reid, Grant, Paige, Carmen, Masame, Eli, August, Jada, Tyler, Kyra and Alyssa, a brother; Wallace (Rosemary) Albert, Wisconsin Rapids and a sister-in-law, Catherine Oertel, Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold, Alvin, Ernest, Norman and Charles and a sister, Ruth Stueck.
Services will be at 12 noon Saturday January 5, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mosinee. Rev. Andrew Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Mosinee cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred Transitional Rehabilitation Center - Colonial, especially Amy S. and Dawn G. of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the care given to Dad.
