Braatz, Lavern "Punkin"

Lavern "Punkin" Braatz 88 died September 14, 2013 at Aspirus Hospital. He was born October 1, 1924 to Robert W. Braatz and Ida Hannenann. He served in the Army in the Korean War as a cook and pastry chef and later worked as a labor for Mericrome Corporation in Schofield. Lavern was like a father to nieces; Shelly Micilig and Sharon Jobs. He is also survived by his niece, Sandra Hoile, nephew, Gordon Braatz and sister-in-law Alvina Braatz, Milwaukee, He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Wallice Braatz and Roger Braatz and two sisters; Junita Hoile and Eunice Koehler. He loved dogs and was an avid duck hunter and was known for his ability to grow petunias in the boulevard. He shared his love of gardening to all those in the neighborhood. Visitation with be held September 19, 2013 at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home from 1:30 to 2:00 with service at 2:00 with military honors at Restlawn Memorial Park.
