Aldrich, Lazelle C.

Lazelle C. Aldrich, age 86, Rothschild, passed away peacefully at home and went to meet his heavenly Father on September 2, 2012.

Lazelle was born August 11, 1926 in Brokaw, Wisconsin to Leona (Lowe) and Cyrus Aldrich. He graduated from Wausau East High School in 1944. Following graduation he served in the U. S. Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Satterlee, U.S.S. LST and the U.S.S. Tillman. He served combat duty in the European, African, Middle East and Asiatic Pacific areas. While on Naval leave, he met the love of his life, Grace Gorski. They were married on September 29, 1951 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Schofield.

Lazelle was a man of great integrity and faith, and was a charter member of St. Mark Catholic Church. He was very involved in the life of the parish, including serving as an usher for nearly 50 years. He also continued his love for God and his country as a member of the VFW, as well as being a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council #4628. He served as Grand Knight and also as a member of the Pere Rene Menard General Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Lazelle was employed at J. I. Case (Drott Manufacturing) and worked as a welder and supervisor. He retired in 1989.

Throughout his life, family was his greatest joy. Spending time with them were some of his most precious memories, especially the many camping adventures and family get-togethers. Lazelle had many hobbies and enjoyed working with his hands. Among his talents were woodworking, drawing and painting. He also loved the outdoors, spending many hours hunting and fishing. In addition, he and his wife, Grace, enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, travelling and spending time with friends.

Survivors include Grace, his wife of 60 years; six children: Julie (Mike) Soczka of Mosinee; Dr. Mark (Lori) Aldrich of Antigo; Dr. Michael (Linda) Aldrich of Irma; Kevin (Carla) Aldrich of Rothschild; Jeffrey (Beth) Aldrich of Chippewa Falls and Carla (Ron) Dul of Mosinee; seventeen grandchildren: Sarah Soczka (fiancé Glenn Hintze), Matt and Zach Soczka, Stephanie and Natalie Aldrich, Chris (Angela) Aldrich, Joe Aldrich, Nick (Alissa) Aldrich, Katie Aldrich, Bryan and Brianna Aldrich, Tim, Sam and Hannah Aldrich, Sylwia, Michal and Ola Dul. Two great-grandchildren: Paxton Lazelle and Tatianna Maye Aldrich. He is further survived by his sisters: Yvonne (David) Mais, Phyllis Fancher and Lorene Fritz and his brothers: Duane (Marion) Aldrich, Gene Aldrich and Philip (Janice) Aldrich.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dale Aldrich.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Mark Parish, 602 Military Road, Rothschild. The Rev. Allan L. Slowiak will officiate. Private family entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, and again on Friday from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. A Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
