Blaskowski, Leo

Leo Blaskowski, 93, passed peacefully on Friday March 21, 2014, at the home of his son Frank and his wife Karen Blaskowsk in Marshfield, with family surrounding him near and far.

Leo was born June 26th, 1920 in Hawkins, Wisconsin. He married Gladys Beluch on September 24, 1947 in Ingrim, Wisconsin. He served in World War II and was a life-time member of VFW Post 388.

He built his home in Rothschild, where he raised 12 children and supported 10 foster infants.

He worked at the American Can Company paper mill in Rothschild until his retirement. He was a faith-filled man who enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing and most of all being with his family.

Leo is survived by his loving younger sister Sophie Hanssen of Fox Lake, Illinois. He is also survived by his 12 loving children; Veronica (John) Hammes of Cedarburg, Frank (Karen) Blaskowski of Marshfield, Victor Blaskowski (Deb) of Ringle, Theresa (Bob) of Oconomowoc, Leona (Chuck) Seymour of Eagle River, Vicky (Jeff) Olson of Chilton, Regina (Dan) of Kiel, Joan (Jeff) of Eau Claire, Marie (Mark) Thompson of Milwaukee, Cathy (Darren) of Eau Claire, Paul (Bobby Jo) of Hawaii, and James (Amy) of Oshkosh. Leo is also survived by his 27 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys and their granddaughter Crystal Burr.

The funeral liturgy and celebration of life will be at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 602 Military Road, Rothschild. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church with the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Father Al Slowiak to officiate. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kronewetter. A lunch at St Mark's school will conclude the ceremony.
