Leonard Kulas, 84, Eland, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born on April 16, 1928 in Shantytown, the son of the late Nick and Martha (Schulist) Kulas.

On December 6, 1969, Leonard was united in marriage to Verna (Janikowski) Miller in Hatley. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2004.

Leonard farmed in the town of Elderon for many years. He also worked at Hatley Veneer and did maintenance and snowplowing for the town of Elderon. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on farm equipment, listening to polka music and watching wrestling and boxing, but especially loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include one stepson, Gerald (Pat) Miller, Eland; four step-grandchildren, Tina (Barry) Meuret, Hatley, Thomas (Jodi) Miller, Hatley, Michael (Kandice) Miller, Pike Lake and Mark (special friend, Nicole Kirsch) Miller, Stevens Point; seven step-great-grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie and Heidi Meuret, Hailey and McKenzie, Keegan and Koreena Rae Miller and one sister, Evelyn Trzebiatowski, Pike Lake. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Leonard was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3pm on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Fr. Roy Witucki will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1pm until the time of services at the church. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements.
