Louis A. "Louie" Legner, 92, of 1432 Old Highway 51, Mosinee, passed away at his home with his family present, on Friday September 27, 2013.
He was born May 18, 1921 in Knowlton, the second of six sons of the late Josef and Stefania (Zahonek) Legner. He proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater from January 3, 1943 and was honorably discharged in January of 1946. His country honored him with "The Never Forgotten Honor Flight" to Washington, D.C. on October 4, 2010. He was a member of the VFW Post 8733. While on leave, Louis married Dorothy Kuchera on July 14, 1943 in Phillips, WI. She passed away April 16, 2009.
Louie and Dorothy farmed in the town of Bergen for many years and then moved to Mosinee where he worked for Wausau Construction. After retirement Louie and Dorothy spent winters in Florida, Arizona, California and Texas. Although Alzheimer's may lay claim to his memory, Louie was always ready to tell you a story, even if it was the same one again and again. Louis belonged to Central Wisconsin Concertina Club and also the Jammers.
Survivors include his son, Louis (Crystal) Legner, Jr., Eau Claire; daughter, Linda (Lyle) Gorski, Hatley; 4 grandchildren, Wendy Gorski, Florida, Theresa Gillis , Oklahoma, Alix Gorski, Wisconsin and Krista (Morgan) Cline, Arizona; 5 great grandchildren, Marissa Gillis, Jayce and Jayden Gorski and Ethan and Morgan Cline; one brother, James (Martha) Legner; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Legner.
Those who passed before Louis are his parents, wife, and brothers, Joseph, Anton, Frank and Rudolph.
Services will be at 10:00 am Monday September 30, 2013 at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Rev. Timothy Roser will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Phillips, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 am Monday until the time of the services at Beste Funeral Home.
We all know that Louis and Dorothy are dancing in The Ballroom of Heaven.
