Mildred M. Hofmeister, 93 died on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Cedar Creek Manor.

Mildred was born May 31, 1919 in Wausau to the late Mark and Eugenia (Guenther) Guenther. She married Howard Hofmeister August 8, 1940 in Bessemer, MI. They owned and operated the Hofmeister IGA Grocery Store in Schofield for over 40 years with his parents; it was the first self-serve grocery store in Schofield.

She enjoyed camping, boating, walking and the summer heat. Her other interests were crafting, watching the Brewers and playing cards. Mildred had been active with her husband Howard in the Senior Center in Schofield for many years. She loved her family; especially her grandchildren, always baking for them and never forgetting a birthday

Survivors include two daughters Gene (Dave) Kasten, Weston, Georgianna Thompson ,Schofield; son Howard (Imee) Hofmeister, Oshkosh; one brother Allan (Clara) Guenther, Hatley; grandchildren Daniel (Gayle) Kasten, Terry and Todd Thompson, Erik, Bryant, and Michelle Hofmeister ; great grandchildren Sara and Sam Kasten, Brynn and Breezy Hofmeister; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband Mildred was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph, James and Victor Guenther and sisters Edith Case and Virginia Guenther and son-in-law Terry Thompson.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am, Friday May 10, 2013 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church 1351 S. Grand Ave Schofield. Rev. Walter Davidson officiated. Entombment was in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation was held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adam St, Wausau, and again, on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service at the church.
