Edmund A. Hart

Edmund A. Hart, 84, formerly of Wittenberg, died on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King where he had been living for the past four years.

He was born on July 14, 1929 in Rietbrock Township, Marathon County, the son of the late John and Louise (Mroczenski) Hart. On August 25, 1953, Edmund was united in marriage to Leona Brodjeski at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.

Edmund was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. After discharge from the Army, Ed and his brother-in-law, Adrian Albrecht, became partners and opened the Wittenberg Feed & Supply. He operated the mill for 40 years until he sold the business in 1994. Following a short retirement, Ed re-entered the workforce and took a job with Nueske Meats in Wittenberg where he worked for another 15 years before he finally retired for good. He was an active member of the Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post #502, Wittenberg and Holy Family St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Edmund liked spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed going 'up north' and spending time at the camp site, polkas, dancing, singing and playing cards with family and friends. He liked hunting, fishing and boating with the boys. Ed had a very engaging and outgoing personality. He especially liked talking with people.

Edmund is survived by his wife, Leona, Wittenberg; 7 children, William (Mary Ann) Hart, Eland, Geraldine (Louis) Klein, Grafton, Alan Hart, Sunnyvale, CA, Colleen (Lonnie) Hampton, Pulaski, Julieanne Hart, Howell, MI, Kevin (Lori) Hart, Kronenwetter and Susan (Kurt) Zeinert, Wittenberg; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 siblings, Anna Kwiecinski, Skokie, IL, Greg Hart, Athens, Sophie (Floyd) Braun, Athens, Ray (Kathy) Hart, Darien, IL and Rose (Jerry) Edwards, Green Valley, AZ; siblings-in-law, Mildred Hart, Athens, Theresa Tulickus, Wausau, Delores Walters, Brighton, MI, Jean (Richard) Kudronowicz, Johnson Creek, Judy Brodjeski, Wausau, Ron (Gloria) Brodjeski, Green Bay, Shirley Fosbender, Wausau and Chet (Shirley) Brodjeski, Arvada, CO. Edmund is further survived by several other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Edmund was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew, siblings and in-laws, Joseph Hart, Sr. Mary Bertillia, John and Adeline Hart, Matthew Kwiecinski, Agnes and George Hoth, Frances and Adrian Albrecht, Patricia Hart, Douglas Albough, Jerome Hart in infancy, Felix and JoAnne Brodjeski, Joe Tulickus, John Walters, Emily and Herman Pochinski, Clarence and Arlene Brodjeski, David Brodjeski and Lee Fosbender.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Holy Family St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. Fr. Patrick Lloyd will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Wittenberg, at a later date. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4pm - 7pm and again on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:45am all at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. There will be a parish wake service at 7pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
