Robert J. Kowalchyk, 82, Mosinee, died Feb. 12, 2014, at Cedar Ridge under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
He was born Mar. 16, 1931, in Mosinee, the son of the late Norbert and Lucy (Boettcher) Kowalchyk. He married Helen Adamski on Oct. 10, 1959, In Maryland. She survives.
He served in the United States Army, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Polish Legion. Bob worked as a janitor at Mosinee Paper Mill. He loved to work on cars and travel.
Survivors, besides his wife, Helen, Mosinee; include his children, Robert (Barbara) Kowalchyk Jr., Joseph Kowalchyk, both of Wausau, Kevin (Christine) Kowalchyk, Andover, Minn., Peter (Reven) Kowalchyk, Little Chute, and Julie Ann (Daniel) Laughnan; eight Grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Laughnan, Kaylee and Kara Kowalchyk, Bryce Kowalchyk, Alex, Joshua and Ava Kowalchyk; Three Great- Grandchildren, Owen, Mason and Isabelle; Brothers, Wilbert and Paul Kowalchyk; Sisters, Margie Reininger, Joesphine Webster, Judy Dunn, and Martha Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Norbert Jr., and a sister, Betty Borchardt.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services, Monday, at the church. Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.
