Charles J. Hapke

  • "My deepest sympathy to the family. May God give you..."

Hapke, Charles J.

Charles Julius Hapke was born to the late Carl and Gertrude (Yonker) Hapke, October 23, 1923. He passed away peacefully on February 25, 2014 surrounded by his "sweethearts" at Mount View Care Center. Charlie resided at North Central Health Care for the last 14 years of his life and viewed staff as his friends and family.

Charles thought he could accomplish anything he set his mind to yet appreciated all the support given to him by the staff. Charlie's goal in life was to spread love and happiness to others. Charlie had a smile that could light up a room and was always giving out hugs. He spent many years decorating his house with thousands and thousands of hearts and rainbows and eventually no space was left undecorated. Often, Charlie would give out tours of his home. Charlie continued this tradition at the nursing home; decorating his room and adding hearts each year. He was a hard worker. Charlie spent many years operating two machines at a local paper mill. He had spent some early years working with trains and continued to have a big interest in his collecting of trains. He also loved fishing, dartball and baseball.

Religion was always very important to Charlie and helped provide him strength and purpose throughout his life. His heritage was United Church of Christ as his grandmother was a charter member of St. Paul's UCC. Charlie was a life time member of Peace United Church of Christ. Charlie enjoyed sharing God's message with others and would often pray for them. Charlie will be greatly missed by all those his life touched and fondly remembered.

Charles is survived by many cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors.
