Shirley Meister

Shirley M. Meister, 69, Hatley, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her daughter's home under the care of Interim Hospice Care, Wausau.

She was born on February 2, 1945 in Madison, the daughter of the late Donald and Esther (Feltzkowski) Endres.

On April 27, 1963, Shirley was united in marriage to Raymond Meister at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, Sun Prairie. They were happy to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013.

Shirley worked as a dental receptionist at Drs. Maasch and Weidemann in Sun Prairie for 10 years until heading north. Ray and Shirley and family moved from the Sun Prairie area in 1976 and took over the Hilltop Tavern in Eland. Shirley ran the tavern for 12 years and then worked as a cook for over 23 years at the A&W Restaurant in Wittenberg.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, cooking, baking and being surrounded by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Meister, Hatley; three children, Dawn (Tom) Vlietstra, Birnamwood, Jeff (Lori) Meister, Hatley and Tammy (Douglas) Lehman, Birnamwood; 11 grandchildren, Rachel (Dustin) Bauch, Keith (Mandy) Vlietstra, Megan Vlietstra, Molly Vlietstra, Jamie (Ed) Race, Eric Meister, Allan Meister, Anthony Meister, Brendan Lehman, Teagon Lehman and Brogan Lehman and three great-grandchildren, Krista Johnson, Emma Race and Kendyl Vlietstra. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Doris (Weisensel) Meister; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Roy Witucki will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9am until the time of services at the church. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood is assisting the family with arrangements. Shirley's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the family of the late Mark Ciszewski for the gift of a kidney in 2009. This was a true blessing for Shirley and her family.
