Martin J."Tut" Anderson, age 71, of Wausau, passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Sunday April, 6, 2014 at his home with family.
Martin was born on March 20, 1943 in Rice Lake, WI. He was the 6th child of Roy and Alice (Boll) Anderson. Martin and Mona were united in marriage at Wesley Methodist Church on Feb. 14, 1980.
Martin graduated from Weyerhauser High School in 1961 and went to Barron Teachers College, Superior State University, and graduated from U.W. Platteville with a teaching degree. He taught 5th grade at Weston Elementary School in Weston and retired in 2000 after 32 years of teaching. After retirement Martin was a substitute teacher for many years and also worked at the YMCA.
Through the years he enjoyed such activities as bowling, cross country, skiing, camping, biking, baseball, basketball, doing crossword puzzles in pen, and being a member of the town of Texas Lions Club for many years. Martin also enjoyed family camping trips to Peninsula Sate Park in Door County. He coached flag football, soccer and Little League.
Martin enjoyed a very full life and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Mona of Wausau; his 4 children, Rand (Christi) Anderson of Tomah, Shaun (friend Rosie) Anderson of Spooner, Jenny Nienow of Wausau, and Chad Bierbrauer of Minocqua; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Molly, Cooper, Boe and Owen; 1 brother, Roy "Rube"(Marianne) Anderson; 3 sisters, Marge (Ken) Koleck, Joyce (Tom) Walker, and Lois Poplowski; sister-in-law, Carmelle Colcord; brother-in-law, Harry Colcord; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Mary Burns; 2 brothers-in-laws, Dr. Bob Burns, and Stanley Poplowski; and 1 granddaughter, Hannah Anderson
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1101 Elm St., Wausau. Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
