Mildred Cowan Obituary
Cowan, Mildred

A long life full and rich is how to describe Mildred's time on earth. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 04, 1930. She graduated Lincoln High School and went into nursing at the Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Mildred married her high school sweetheart Terrance Cowan on November 24, 1951, and followed her husband to Hawaii, Taiwan, Virginia, Saudi Arabia, Florida, Colorado, Texas and Wisconsin. Her life was full of adventure.

While being a naval officer's wife had her changing residences often, she was able to see much of the world with her family. From these adventures she became a phenomenal cook, avid socialite and a round the world square dancer. She and Terrance enjoyed dancing in places such as Dubai and Hawaii and were able to participate in the biggest square dance assembly at Christ's Church New Zealand.

Mildred Estelle Cowan was called to Heaven on February 27, 2014 to be with her Lord. She is survived by her husband Terrance, her Son Patrick Cowan and his wife Lynn Brushert-Cowan, her daughter Michelle Templin, all of Wausau. She is further survived by five fantastic grandchildren; Tiffany and Victoria, Miramar, FL, Siobhan, Sean and Shane Templin , Wausau.

We will miss her as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the one who could always be counted on for a witty retort that just made you laugh or a song in the morning to just bring a smile. Friends will remember her Lamb Curry and her open arms for a party and gathering of any size.

There was no public services held for Millie, however, family and friends are always welcome to call or come by to share memories of this classy, caring lady.

The family thanks all of our relatives for their amazing support and love. The family would also like to express our sincerest gratitude to the devoted team in the Palliative Care Unit at Wausau Aspirus Hospital and Brainard Funeral Home for their care during her last travels.
