Irene Taylor, 90, of Wausau, died Friday May 2, 2014 at Wausau Manor.
She was born in Tomahawk on March 8, 1924 to Harry and Amanda (Kottmann) Weiss. She married James L. Taylor on August 31, 1946 in Tomahawk, he preceded her in death.
After working early in her marriage, Irene devoted her life to caring for her home and raising three sons. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, making many of her own clothes. She also liked to travel, and she and Jim spent many happy days seeing the country in their mini home. Later Irene found great pleasure visiting her sister Joyce's cottage in Tomahawk to get in some fishing time and bonding with family. She took several bus trips to see parts of the country and lately she loved getting together with the ladies at Island Place to play cards or dice games.
Survivors include two sons, William Taylor, Wausau and Larry (Jill) Taylor, Wausau. She has two grandchildren, Erin (Gary) Hackel, Cameron, and David Taylor, Weston. She also has a great-granddaughter, Lydia Hackel, Cameron. Irene has one surviving sister, Joyce Greening, Neenah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James in 1998; and her brothers, Robert, Bud, and Harry Weiss; and sister, Nina Reeves.
