Marquardt, Vivian

Vivian C. Marquardt, age 99, of Wausau, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Cedar Creek Manor in Kronewetter, WI.

Vivian was born September 11, 1914 in Milan, WI, daughter of Herman and Alma (Klessig) Marquardt.

She grew up in Curtiss and worked in the cheese factory her folks owned and there she learned the lesson of a hard day's work. At the age of 17 she moved to Chicago where she worked for a Dr.'s family cleaning and taking care of their children. Eventually she was hired by the Dr. as a bookkeeper in his office. After 55 years in Chicago Vivian returned to Rothschild where she helped her sister Maxine care for her husband Clarence "Dutch".

Vivian enjoyed traveling, making beautiful beaded calendars, and was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan never missing a game! Family was always most important in her life as was her faith.

She is survived by two nieces, Marcia Reedstrom and Maureen Marten; two great nieces, April (Ryan) Gardner and Ann Lyon (Jordan); great great nephew, Gavin Gardner; and many special friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alma (Klessig) Marquardt; brother, Norman, sister in-law, Violet; sister, Maxine, brother in-law, Clarence; nephew Gene Lemmer and niece Janet Lyon.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1530 Grand Ave., Schofield. Rev. Sid Bouldin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau.
