Sarah E. Cota, 91, Wausau, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Cedar Creek Manor, Kronenwetter.

Sarah was born September 10, 1922 to the late Ernest and Sarah (Suwyn) Manthei in Wausau. She grew up in the Wausau area and graduated from Wausau High School in 1940. She later married Harvey Cooper and he passed away on June 10, 1954. She was remarried February 12, 1971 to Wilfred Cota who passed away on June 22, 1981.

Sarah was employed from 1955 to 1981 at Drott Manufacturing/ J.I. Case. She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Many of her favorite pastimes included golf, bowling, watching baseball and enjoying time with her many grand and great grandchildren. Sarah volunteered for ten years at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Survivors include her 5 stepchildren, Jean Lierman, Abor Vitae, Jim Cota, Kingsport, TN, Bill (Bertie) Cota, Birnamwood, Ron Cota, Wausau and Kay (Joseph) Herman, also of Wausau; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Bernie (Donna) Hoefs, FL; a great- niece Robin Ball, Seattle and a great-nephew, Paul (Athena) Hoefs, Wausau.

She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Emilie Borth and Helen Manthei; and a grandson, Michael Lierman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan St., Wausau. Rev. Alan Schaffmeyer will officiate. Burial will be at Pinegrove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau is assisting the family with the arrangements.
