Stone, Lester

Lester "Irish" G. Stone, age 87, died Friday August 15, 2014 at Azura Memory Care, Wausau.

He was born February 10, 1927 in Wausau to the late Benjamin and Theresa (Koch) Stone. He married his wife Ruth Von Kanal and has been married to her for over 60 years.

Lester served his county honorably in the U.S. Air Force in WWII. He was employed with Weyerhaeuser as a paper technician and quality control for over 40 years.

Lester was a honest and hardworking man who loved fishing, hunting and boating. He had a great sense of humor and would do anything he could to help someone in need. Lester was very industrious and had many side jobs to help raise his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Jeffrey Stone and his significant other Jane Adamski, Wausau; two grandchildren, Heather and Tiffany; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rochelle and "Pebbles"; and his German Shepherd, Louie.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Michael Stone; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Rev. Zack Holdorf will officiate. Burial will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
