Jean M. Baron, 86, formerly of Mosinee, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau under the care of her family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born on August 14, 1928 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Kopinski) Hamenka. On September 24, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Joseph Baron in Chicago. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1991.
Jean was employed at Mars Candy and Sear's in Chicago until moving to Mosinee in 1989. She enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, fishing and traveling with her sisters. Family was very important to her and she was known as Ciocia Jean.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice (Eric Dombrowsky) Baron, Stevens Point; four grandchildren, Steven (Tina) Hauber, Craig (Katelyn Schmidt) Hauber all of Wausau, Melissa Hauber, Weston and Logan Dombrowsky, Stevens Point; one great-grandson, Elijah Hauber; three siblings, Olga Hornung, Mosinee, Patricia (Cy) Lepak, Cumberland and Steve Hamenka, San Diego, CA and several nieces and nephews who all were important to Jean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30AM until the time of service at the church.
