Arthur Hellert Obituary
Arthur F. Hellert was born February 9, 1934 in Ontonagon, Michigan. His parents were the Rev. Arthur C. Hellert and Alice Judith Hellert (nee Walker). His family included the Rev. Alfred Hellert, of Indiana, and James Hellert. He and his family lived in Ironwood, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois, where his father served parishes until his death in 1960.
Arthur attended Concordia High School and College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1959. In 1957 he was married to Joy E. Braschler, of Doniphan, Missouri, who was a student at the Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis. Following his graduation from Concordia Seminary, he served parishes in Minnesota, New Jersey, and Wisconsin, including St. John's Lutheran Church of Owen and Trinity Lutheran Church of Greenwood.
In 1973 Arthur left the ministry and became employed as a social worker at the Clark County Health Care Center until his retirement in 1996. He was a member and past-president of the Withee Lions Club and a member and past-president of the Meadowview Country Club in Owen.
In 1999 Arthur and Joy moved from Owen, Wisconsin, to rural Durand, Wisconsin, where they lived until 2009, when they relocated to Wausau, Wisconsin, their present residence.
Arthur's favorite past-times included golfing, fishing, bowling, traveling, and visiting casinos.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joy Hellert, of Wausau, Wisconsin, three children, and five grandchildren, Arthur Carl (Lorie) Hellert of Spirit Lake, Iowa, children, Alex and Max; Elizabeth A. (Danial) Wirtala of Chandler, Arizona, daughter Emily; and Rebecca J. (Timothy) Lynn of Rib Mountain, Wisconsin, children, Ashley and Zachary.
At Arthur's request there will be no funeral service. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, on Saturday, June 23, 2012, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Dear Hellert family,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I teach with Art (Jr.) and have had Max for three years in a row and also had Alex when he was in 6th grade. May the memories of your husband, father, and grandfather help you through the days to come. Heaven must be brighter now that your loved one is there. Thinking and praying for you all.
