Wagner, Lauretta Grace

Lauretta Grace Wagner, 79, of Greenfield, Indiana, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on January 19, 2013. She was born on May 12, 1933, to Richard and Laura Steffen in Wausau, WI. Lauretta married her lifetime love and partner Gordon "Gordy" Wagner on May 28, 1956.

Lauretta is survived by husband, Gordy; brother, David and his wife, Audrey; her beloved children, Jim and wife, Jeri, John and wife, Liz, Joni and husband, Joel Stackman and Tom and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Jim) Wagner-Hernann, JoAnna (Jim), Jonathan (Jim), Heather (John) Meyer, Angie (John) Wagner-Gilbert, Jordan (John), Brian (John), Christopher (Joni), Neil (Joni), and Rachel (Joni), Eileen (Tom), Gordon (Tom), Caleb (Tom); and great-grandchildren, Amedeus, Ezra, Madison, June, and Archer. Lauretta was preceded in death by her brothers, Dick, Melvin, and Gerald; and her sisters, Delphine and Dolores.

Lauretta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. As a military wife, serving on the "home front", she proudly and lovingly managed households in Germany, Wisconsin, Alabama, Kansas, Georgia, Arizona, California, North Carolina, Washington, Illinois, and Indiana, while Gordy served as a U.S. Army officer. Besides caring for her family, she enjoyed crocheting, creating ceramics, and gifting many with her beautifully constructed items. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, jigsaw puzzles and playing games, especially with family.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield, with Father William Stumpf officiating. Visitation will follow until 6 p.m. at the mortuary. Lauretta's final resting place will be in Marathon, Wisconsin. The burial services will be held at a future date to be determined.
