Lee V. Jorgensen, 75 of Schofield, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau.
Lee was born on May 16, 1937 in the town of Plover, son of the late Edward and Viola (Schuetz) Jorgensen. He grew up in the town of Aniwa and graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1955. On April 7, 1956 he married Janice Wickman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aniwa. Lee owned Gamble's Hardware Store in Birnamwood for 17 years. While living in Birnamwood, he coached Little League, volunteered for their fire and ambulance, was a member of the Birnamwood Improvement Club, the Polka Board, and was a board member for the Homme Home. He moved to Schofield in 1982, and worked for D.C. Everest School as their buildings and grounds superintendant for over 20 years.
He enjoyed going to garage sales, auctions, estate sales, and motor homing with his wife, Janice. He loved helping others and spending time with his family. Lee also enjoyed furniture and tool restoration and yard work. For the last ten years, he and Janice both worked at Walmart.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Schofield; three sons, Steven (Pamela) Jorgensen, Hephzibah, GA, Kenneth (Mary) Jorgensen, Weston, and Alan (Robin) Jorgensen, Schofield; his siblings, Donald (Donna) Jorgensen, Greenfield, Joyce (Arden) Raatz, Aniwa, and James (Karen) Jorgensen, Escondido, CA; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; Kevin King - who was like another son to Lee; and many other special friends and relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was further preceded in death by his siblings, Vernon Jorgensen, Shirley Rydell, and Edward Jorgensen, Jr.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston. Rev. Lance Hoelscher and Rev. Raymond Connor will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Brainard Funeral Home - Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
