Lyle Saeger, 91, died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, March 28, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Stevens Drive Wausau. Visitation at 11am, service at 12pm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ruth (Prochnow) Saeger; daughter, Susan (Frank) Szucs of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Sally (Roger) Rohrbach of Payzon, AZ; his son, Stephen (Andrea) Saeger of Wausau; brother, Alvin Saeger of Merrill, WI; brother, Maynard Saeger of Ontario, CA; sister, Carolyn Patrick of Portland, OR; granddaughter, Kathleen (Robert) Hill; granddaughter, Shaya (Jimi) Straw; granddaughter, Mauri (Andrew) Brueggeman; grandson, Rayne Rohrbach; and granddaughter, Stephanie (Kenneth) Zingler; and many loving great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Frank Szucs and great-granddaughter Ruth Anna Emmanual Rohrbach.
Lyle was born July 5, 1921 in Merrill, WI. He graduated from Concordia University Chicago where he met and fell in love with Ruth. They were married in 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. He worked as a Lutheran school Teacher and Administrator for 45 years in New York and Wauwatosa, WI. His mission was to bring the message of Jesus to the students and parishioners of the school. Since 1986 he lived an active retirement where he wintered in Scottsdale and summered in Merrill. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, basketball, and volunteering at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. His greatest joy was spending time with his family at his cottage on Lake Pesobic. Lyle embodied the grace and peace of a life lived for his Lord.
