Kole, James A

James A. Kole, 71, of Kingsford, MI, formerly of the Wausau area, died Sun. April 21, 2013, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on May 18, 1941, in Kenosha, WI, the son of the late Frank and Henrietta (Steif) Kole.

Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked as a tool and die maker at Marathon Electric Manufacturing in Wausau for many years. He married Janet Abt on Oct. 5, 1963, in Wausau. The coupled lived in Wausau and Aniwa before moving to Crystal Falls, in 1995, and to Kingsford in 2008. Jim was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church. His favorite activity was ice fishing. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and playing cards. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers fan.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Janet, one sister Lois Schroeder of Virginia; one brother David (Donna) Kole of California; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Elaine (Clarence) Nienow, Ron (Midge) Abt, Dick (Janet) Abt, Darlene (Dave) Manecke, Judy (Bob) Walkowski, and Butch (Marquerite) Abt and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Visitation will be Thurs. from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Funeral services will be Thurs. at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Father Michael Woempner will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post #50.
