Chester Osowski, 91, formerly of Mosinee, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at Stevens Point Community Care.

He was born April 14, 1922, in Mosinee, the son of the late Carl and Anna (Sadowski) Osowski. He married Loretta Soltys on Nov. 12, 1947, in Pulaski. She survives.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 9th Armored Division during the Battle of the Bulge as a tank driver & helped secure the bridge at Remagen. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Peplin Post 8280. He was employed at the Mosinee Paper Corporation for 46 years retiring in 1987, and was the constable for the town of Kronenwetter for 38 years. In his younger years, Chet enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved grocery shopping and flowers, and was known for his chili and cherry cheesecake.

Survivors, besides his wife, Loretta, include a son, Chester (Carol) Osowski, Mosinee; two grandchildren, Tracy (Robert) Schmoldt, Merrill, and Krisi (Chad) Gilray, Mosinee; two great-grandchildren, Cain and Carson Gilray; two brothers, Vacen (Theresa) Osowski, Mosinee, and Casmir (Sherry) Osowski, Branson, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, June Ann, a brother, Gene, and two sisters, Carrol Shishkoff and Jean Hackett.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Our Savior National Catholic Church, Mosinee. The Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate. Burial will be in Mosinee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee.
