Karl "Matt" Hyypio, 90, of Weston, WI passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014.

He was born in Tapiola, MI on April 4, 1924 to the late John and Olga (Peterson) Hyypio. He served in the United States Army in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II and attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, IL. He married Evelyn Metteri on September 29, 1951.

Karl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a highly skilled electrician and proud member of the IBEW. He received great satisfaction in helping others and applying his gift of fixing just about anything. In his later years, he found enjoyment in carving and painting wooden figures, particularly birds. Karl was a soft-spoken man who loved his country and had a deep sense of service to others.

He is survived by daughter Karol (husband Bob Borkowski) of Lakewood Ranch, FL and son David (wife Gail Grant) of Weston, WI. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jeffrey Hyypio and Laura Hyypio.
