Calvin F. Folkers, 79, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and formerly of Waverly, Iowa, died Sept. 16, 2013, at home from complications of Parkinson's disease.
Calvin was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Allison, Iowa, to Herb and Sylva (Bird) Folkers. He graduated from Allison High School in 1951. He attended Coe and Wartburg and graduated from the University of Iowa
in 1959. He served in the Army
in Augsburg, Germany, from 1954-56.
Cal worked in sales all of his life, including selling real estate in the Cedar Valley and many years of selling fire alarm systems in Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.
Cal was an avid golfer and won the Waverly Country Club Calcutta tournament in 1980. He enjoyed visiting Waverly over the years to spend time with family and friends, and to participate in Wartburg Homecoming events.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Karoll; daughter, Kimberly Folkers (Bruce Ecker), of Waverly; and son, Scott Folkers (Dana), and two grandsons, Tim and Jake, of Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don.
A private celebration of his life was held by his family. Memorials can be directed to the family for the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma or Valir Hospice of Oklahoma City.
