Joann Barbara Robinson(1944 - 2014)

Joann Barbara Robinson, age 69, of Janesville, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from complications of cancer.

Joann was born on September 15, 1944, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Tank) Olson. Joann was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church in Waterloo, May 10, 1953 and confirmed there on May 17, 1959. She was raised in Cedar Falls and graduated from the Cedar Falls High School in 1962. On August 24, 1963, Joann was united in marriage to Ray Robinson in Cedar Falls, Iowa, by Pastor Edgar Brammer of College Hill Lutheran Church. She attended State College of Iowa for 2 years, however, her chosen career was being a full time mother.

Joann was a member of College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls and West Fork Stitch and Chatter Club. She was very active in the Special Olympics, serving as a coach for many years. Joann also taught Sunday school, confirmation class, and served as youth group leader for many years at Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. She enjoyed selling sweet corn, helping others by transporting them to appointments, and being an ombudsman for Cedar Falls Health Care Center, however, what she enjoyed most was spending time with her family.

Joann's memory is honored by: her husband, Ray Robinson of Janesville; two daughters, Barb Robinson of Cedar Falls and Bev (Brian) Bahlmann of Plainfield; and two grandsons, Dustin and Brandon Bahlmann. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Brenda Robinson on February 26, 2006; and a brother, Donald Olson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, at College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with Pastor John Wegener officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly where the family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to River Hills School or Special Olympics Iowa and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
