Gloria A. Dorn, 57, of Waverly, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Gloria was born Sept. 1, 1956, in Waterloo, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Zars) Dorn. She graduated from River Hills School in Cedar Falls. For the past 20 years she had been associated with North Star Community Services in Waverly.
Gloria was an absolute joy and inspiration to the people she met. Her smile, perseverance and sense of humor were traits that made her a great friend. In her younger years she enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics. Gloria stayed active by helping with Bible School at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. Family and friends were an integral part of Gloria's life. From Sunday lunches along the Cedar River to celebrating birthdays at Chuck E. Cheese's, Gloria was most happy when spending time with the people she loved. She looked forward to her annual trip to Wisconsin to spend time with dear friends Cheryl and Mike Jacobson and their boys, John and Ben.
Gloria is survived by her sister, Evie Strottmann, of Tripoli; brother, Gordon Dorn, of Denver; and sister-in-law, Anita Dorn, of Tripoli; sister-in-law, Pat Dorn, of Bloomington, Minn.; 10 nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Dorn; and a niece, Melissa Strottmann.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Denver. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour before services on Wednesday at the church.
