Dr. William Manly Kelly, 77, of Waverly, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at his home from complications of pancreatic cancer.

Bill was born on December 9, 1935, in Riceville, Iowa, the son of Clarkson and Marion (Walker) Kelly. He was baptized at Congregational Church in Osage and confirmed later in Charles City. Bill graduated from Charles City High School in May of 1954. He then attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, obtaining his Masters in Physiology in 1960 and his M.D. in 1962. On September 10, 1960, Bill was united in marriage to Mary Lou Carver at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1965. During his medical career, Bill had a Dermatology Practice in Waterloo from 1968 until retiring in 1999. Bill volunteered at Waterloo Free Medical Clinic for the past 10 years in his retirement.
Bill was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, New Horizons Band, Phi Gamma Delta at University of Iowa and the Iowa Dermatology Society. His enjoyments included tennis, playing trumpet, men's Bible study and most of all, spending time with his family.
Bill's memory is honored by his wife, Mary Lou, of Waverly; two sons and their families, Steven (Julie) Kelly and their children, Nicole and Jarod Kelly, all of Weslaco, Texas; and Stuart (Kelly) Kelly and their children, Brayden Kelly and Kailey and Calvin Rindels, all of Waverly; two brothers, Dr. Thomas (Donna) Kelly, of Des Moines; and Dr. James Kelly, of Boise, Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Kelly, of Charles City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dr. Clarkson Kelly; and a sister-in-law, Betty Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. Burial will follow at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation was held on Monday, July 8, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, St. Mary Catholic Church or New Horizon Band and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
